Shirt of the Month - January 2023: Pumas UNAM
We start 2023 off with one of our favourite retro football shirts of all time – the Pumas UNAM third shirt of the 1994-95 season, which is our shirt of the month for January.
This kit is an absolute beauty, with the cool gold and blue design featuring the club logo on the front. The shirt also featured a nice ribbing on the sleeves and a crew neck collar.
Pumas UNAM originally were called Club Univerisdad Nacional and were founded as a University team in 1954 - they originally played at an amateur level and then developed into a professional team. They are now competing in Liga MX, the top flight of Mexican football.
Pumas UNAM are considered one of the biggest clubs in Mexico, with their thousands of supporters extremely passionate and filling the Estadio Olimpico Universitario, their stadium, every week. They are also considered one of ‘the big four’ teams in Mexico who compete for the league title each season, along with fierce rivals Club America, Cruz Azul and Guadalajara. Despite being one of the biggest clubs in Mexico, Pumas UNAM’s last league title win was back in 2011.
